This post title is quite fitting as I do actually kinda have post-holiday/summer blues, having just returned an amazing holiday in Sorrento. But returning home initially wasn’t so bad as it was almost as hot in England as it had been in Italy! Obviously, that didn’t last and here we are in July and so far this week it’s not been warm enough to crack out any of my summer dresses. So today I opted for this beauty.
Almost every time I wear this shirt people ask where it is from, I suppose it does stand out from the crowd. A few jokers have compared it to some of Noel Edmond’s shirts – which of course I found hilarious! But you might be surprised to learn that this is actually from Ark. I rarely actually shop at Ark, mainly because it’s just a little bit far out of the centre in Leeds (yes I am lazy) so I don’t tend to venture out to it much, but I stumbled in one day and tried this on one day and I HAD to have it!
I love the lightweight fabric which makes it so cool and breathable, so it’s perfect all year round. I actually bought it way back in May and since then I must have worn it like a hundred times! It’s a flattering loose oversized style with three quarter sleeves and a cross over back.
I enjoy patterned shirts so much because you can just throw them on and it instantly makes a statement with little accessorising. I usually pair this particular shirt with a pair of distressed black jeans then boots or pumps, but it also looks great with a pair of denim shorts for more of a festivally look. I’m actually gutted I’m not going to a festival this year, as I can totally picture this shirt half tucked in, with a pair of wellies and a braid in my hair!
If I feel like opting for a smarter look I simply tuck the shirt into a pair of high-waisted trousers or a jersey pencil skirt – making it great for an in work or out of work look! The split back is a little revealing for the day, so if I wear this for work I tend to layer it on top of a vest so I’m not flashing my back at my colleagues.
What do you think to this Noel Edmonds-esque number? Are you into a patterned shirt or do you prefer more of a classic look?
