I feel like this shirt is my way of trying to make an effort without having to actually make an effort – my kind of fashion.
I initially bought this shirt from River Island with the intention to wear it to work, I thought: Neutral grey to go with the rest of my grey wardrobe – check! Cute checked pattern suitable for work – check! Ruched hem so no tucking in – check! Mid-length sleeves to hide those bingo wings – check!
Plus it was around the £30 mark so not too bad for a work staple.
But actually, I think I’ve ended up wearing it just as much on the weekends, than I’ve worn it to work. I love how I can shove it on over a pair of black skinnies with pumps and pretend like I’ve kind of dressed up. I also really like the way the back of the shirt hangs longer, so it’s covers the old derriere, for a slouchy half tucked in look – great to put on with leggings or jeans. And then the V-neck cut and shirt style still keeps it looking smart and sophisticated.
I also wear these pumps from H&M so much. They go with EVERYTHING!
I’m so excited for autumn/winter fashion now that the leaves are changing. I can hear a new winter coat calling – so keep your eyes peeled!
