The fabulous French style fashion retailer, La Redoute, threw us northern bloggers our very own Christmas party – how nice is that? I love it when brands hold events in and around Leeds. So many events are just in London which makes it really hard for us bloggers up north to get down to them or to take the time off work to travel etc.
So, after scouring their website I got super excited to see what sparkly Christmas numbers they were going to have on display for our festive blogger do. The venue was Lamberts Yard, the go to industrial chic location for any fashion event in Leeds. I love the vibe in Lamberts Yard it’s big enough for at least 50 people but still feels intimate. It was great to catch up with some familiar faces and to meet some lovely new fashion bloggers like Becky, Dei and Bridie!
On arrival we were greeted by Peach Bellins, Long Island Ice Teas, unlimited pick ‘n’ mix (my idea of heaven), some great tunes from the live DJ and rails and rails of stunning clothes! The La Redoute collection had been handpicked for the event and there was the perfect mix of styles, sizes, trends and colours. We were even able to pick some items to try on and told we could keep our favourite (amazing!!!!).
We couldn’t contain our excitement, the clothes were so beautiful and now the lovely people at La Redoute were letting us keep one! I’m sure you can imagine what came next, flocks and flocks of bloggers racing over to the clothes rails to find their La Redoute look.Trying on the clothes was actually my favourite part of the night. It’s not that often that you would go shopping with like 20 other girls, so having all these trendy bloggers telling you what worked and what didn’t was amazing! Think Confessions of a Shopoholic mixed with an old school girls sleep over… a group of us squished into the loos and spilled out into the hallway, zipping each other up, swapping dresses and sharing accessories with one and other. It was great for bonding, I mean, when you’re half naked with lots of girls you haven’t known very long the boundaries have been pretty much been crossed, so in no time we couldn’t really care less and I totally forgot that we were gossiping in our underwear :’)
The only issue was there was so much to choose from (I know first world fashion blogger problems). Firstly, I tried on this absolute glitter bomb of a dress which I had spotted some of the other girls in and it looked so festive and special, but it just wasn’t quite me.
Then I spotted this long elegant jumpsuit and thought THAT IS THE ONE! The jumpsuit isn’t always a tall girl’s friend so trying it on was a must and I was amazed at how it looked.
Usually I wouldn’t choose a jumpsuit, I don’t really know why, but I just feel like they don’t suit me. But this one had the perfect balance of a smart tailored fit and a glamorous backless cut with a beautiful tie detail at the front, so of course this is what I chose. I will do a full outfit post before NYE as this is what I’m going to wear.
The night made us all feel so special, not only did we get pampered with cocktails, food, our own DJ and even a beautiful La Redoute outfit, we also had out photographer papping us in ‘looks’.
I’ve pinched this image from my lovely friend Ally over at Digital Diva
Of course when it came to my turn to be photographed I was only too bloody tall for the backdrop, so I had to sit on a stool. I felt like I was back having my school photo taken! Everyone looked amazing we were all walking round in our outfits for most of the night flaunting the gorgeous clothes and posing for the photographer.
The La Redoute team announced there would be a prize for the best dressed in the outfits chosen, I was too busy chatting away to Becky when it was announced that I’d quite believe that it was ME!
I actually couldn’t believe it, I felt so flattered, especially when everyone else looked so amazing. I was given a little extra goody bag which included every girls dream a set of over 20 make up brushes!!!
To be honest before this event I don’t think I would have shopped at La Redoute, I had a pre-conception that it was for much older women. But actually their collection was bang on trend and really flattering for us taller girls. I will definitely be keeping my eye out for their spring/summer collection in 2016 and I will of course dedicate a full outfit post to showcase the jumpsuit in all its glory before I wear it for New Years Eve!
Thanks so much La Redoute for bringing us Yorkshire bloggers together and putting on a proper Xmas blogger bash!
