I’ve been longing for an Olivia Burton watch for ages. I love the simple, traditional leather strapped style with the beautiful big dial.Every pay day I‘ve had my eye on them as I desperately need a watch that WORKS, so finally I bit the bullet and got this stunning lilac and rose gold number. Even better, Olivia Burton were offering free engraving to celebrate the launch of the new Luxe store in Wakefield’s Trinity Walk, so of course I was the first one there stood in the queue to get it personalisedI mean who even knew that Olivia Burton personalised watches?…

Soho Leeds

A few weeks ago now I visited one of the newest beauty additions to the Leeds high street, Soho Nails and Beauty. It’s hidden away just behind Debenhams, so a stones throw from the high street. At first I thought why another nail salon there are loads in Leeds already? But Soho is so different to your average nail bar! For one, just look at the store front – not your average nail place! When I walked inside it got even better and the service and atmosphere was so friendly and peaceful, ideal for a bit of pampering me time.I opted for…

The Soap Factory 1

The Soap Factory is one of Leeds newest cocktail bars, part of Novotel, in the prime location of Whitehall Quay (just down past the train station). A few Fridays ago I paid a visit for the first time. I was in town anyway and in desperate need of some post-work drinks. I was pleasantly surprised to say the least. When you think hotel bar, you think: no personality, expensive and probably corporate. But The Soap Factory is none of these things. It’s relaxed, friendly, stylish and fair priced. The décor is also really nice, they’ve definitely played on the soap…

Keys to house leeds

Guess what? About 8 months ago my boyfriend and I bought our first house. It still doesn’t feel real to be quite honest. We actually own a home!? It’s scary in a way. Knowing you are committing to paying a mortgage is a real responsibility but it’s also super rewarding to know that the money you pay out each month now is contributing to something that’s yours. We lived in the city centre for almost two years and we loved every second of it. Being able to stroll into Leeds city centre for a cheeky wine on a weeknight whenever…

audrey hepburn tired

You may have noticed that I’ve not updated my blog for almost a year now. I could make up a load of fake excuses like it’s because I moved house (which I did) or it’s because I’ve been so swamped at work (which I have) or it’s simply because I couldn’t be bothered (highly plausible). But the truth is I was busy having a quarter life crisis. That’s right, at the ripe old age of 25 I suddenly felt overwhelmed with anything and everything. Of course at first I was in denial and I convinced myself that this…

Danielle Gourlay at Scarborough - behind the blonde

Last weekend my boyfriend and I took a trip across to sunny Scarborough, North Yorkshire, for a little weekend away at the seaside – and it was gorgeous! The last time I’d been to Scarborough was when I was much younger with my parents but it was a hazy memory which blended in with other seaside resorts. So I was excited to see what this part of Yorkshire looked like now and what there was to do, aside from arcades and fish and chips – which are obviously both a given! We stayed the night at this stunning luxury Scarborough hotel…

ESPA exfoliator scrub beauty blog Leeds

I am so bad at neglecting my skin, I look in the mirror and know I need to do something about it, but think I’ll deal with it another day. So after months of putting it off I’ve decided it’s time to give my skin some much needed TLC! My face is particularly prone to dehydration at the best of times but the last few weeks have really taken their tole on my poor face, clearly demonstrated by my chapped lips, flaky skin and dry patches of foundation – not a good look. I started by scrapping my existing skincare routine – if…

Zara home blue bedroom

I’m super excited that one of my all time favourite high street fashion stores, Zara, is opening a Zara Home store in Leeds. I was minding my own business strolling down Briggate yesterday and I spotted a ‘coming soon’ sign, so I had to take a snap and Tweet about it right away. I’d not heard anything about it on social media or in any of the local publications so I was totally surprised. Of course I can’t keep this new found information to myself, hence sharing this amazing news on my blog to get the word out. So far, with my talented detective…

La Redoute clothes

The fabulous French style fashion retailer, La Redoute, threw us northern bloggers our very own Christmas party – how nice is that? I love it when brands hold events in and around Leeds. So many events are just in London which makes it really hard for us bloggers up north to get down to them or to take the time off work to travel etc. So, after scouring their website I got super excited to see what sparkly Christmas numbers they were going to have on display for our festive blogger do. The venue was Lamberts Yard, the go to…

Linda Barker cookery class

A few weeks ago I was invited along to a lovely little blogger event at the Wren Kitchens HQ. It was an opportunity for us local bloggers to test and taste three of Linda Barker’s favourite family recipes sent in by people on Instagram as part of the #WrensFamilyFavourites campaign. I was expecting, delicious, but complicated, fancy recipes with names I couldn’t pronounce and recipes I’d never be able to follow. But actually all of Linda’s favourites were really simple, hearty, good grub recipes: marble cake, peanut butter and banana loaf (obviously this was my favourite – it had peanut…
